Liam Dargan in Ms. Quinlan’s 4th class reached the finals of Today FM’s school competition on Friday 14 October. The prize was €10,000 for the school. The children were asked to write about what makes their school special and what they would spend the money on. Liam’s entry was part of the top 25 from 5,000 entries. We are so proud of Liam’s wonderful achievement!

You can listen to Liam’s name being announced on http://www.todayfm.com/player/listen_back/3/32745/14th_October_2016_-_The_Ian_Dempsey_Breakfast_Show_Part_2  (21 minutes in).

Here is Liam’s fantastic entry.

“Hi my name is Liam Dargan. It would be so good if my school could win the prize. I’m in Scoil Treasa in Firhouse. The teachers in my school are so nice. I would like to win so I could buy a relaxation room because we have been doing mindfulness. It helps me to concentrate so much. In my relaxation room I would have pillows, teddies, soft music, blankets and no messing.
It would also be cool to have an astro pitch so the boys and girls could play GAA when our pitch was wet. We could buy new mops, brushes and hoovers for Floyd and Gerry our caretaker and cleaner. They clean our room every day and do a great job. We could buy jerseys for both girls and boys teams. It would help us a lot if we could buy new computers better and faster ones and they could also help our amazing SNAS.
I feel safe in school because it is a no bullying zone. €10,000 is a lot of money. There’re so many things that would help us. We could buy better desks that would be nicer than sitting on wooden ones and so the desks won’t shake.
The teachers make the work so fun in our school and they deserve something back. New white boards would help us learn lots with better and bigger screens. Our principal Mr O’Meara is so funny and showers us with compliments. We could help our special needs assistant with that money and make it easier for them.
Today FM please it would be amazing if we won, my school is brilliant and we could buy an ice-cream machine and a healthy vending machine. I hope we win. From, Liam”.
