Welcome Back Everyone!! Hope you all had a lovely Summer and are nicely refreshed to start the new school year. And a very special welcome to all the new pupils and parents who have just started in Senior Primary School - we wish you all the best of luck!

As we begin the new school year, we must once again remind you about the importance of keeping our little ones safe on their way into school - PLEASE DO NOT park on the double yellow lines. It makes it quite unsafe for our children to cross the road. Monica does a wonderful job bringing the boys and girls - and mums and dads!! - safely across the road. Let’s make her job easier and not harder!!

Already, we have some dates for your diary!! Don’t panic if you can’t remember all of them - there will be reminders in your children’s bags as the events draw near. I understand that a journey into your child’s schoolbag may be a treacherous one full of the hazards of broken pens, pencil shavings, half eaten sandwiches and many unidentifiable objects but it is worth the risk to stay informed of all the upcoming events in the school!

TUESDAY OCTOBER 21ST: The Parents Association A.G.M. will take place in the school hall @ 7.30p.m.. Following the meeting, the association has arranged for a guest speaker to address the parents on a topic relevant to our school going children. Everyone is welcome to attend. It is a great opportunity to hear more about the association and how it works. You can choose to become a member, or a helper or you can choose not to become involved at that level at all - you more than play your part with all the support you show us during the year - but please come along, it would be lovely to meet you! As a special treat this year, Mr O’Meara has kindly said that he would give homework passes to all parents who attend on the night - to pass on to their children of course!

FRIDAY OCTOBER 24th: Our Liberties Recycling Fund Raiser will take place on Friday morning October 24th. You get to clear out all your old clothes, bags, sheets, shoes, etc. and bring then to the school. Liberties Recycling collect them and donate a fixed amount of money per bag to the school. They recycle the goods and provide employment for many people trying to get back on their feet - Everybody wins!

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 14th: Our Annual Cake Sale - an opportunity for all the budding Jamie Olivers and Rachel Allens to show off their culinary skills (or for those parents like me, to buy cakes in Super Valu!) and donate for the Cake Sale. The children love the chance to buy back what they made!!!

SUNDAY DECEMBER 7th: Our 3rd Annual Christmas Fair. This was a great success over the last couple of years and was an enjoyable day for all. Keep an eye out in your children’s bags for further information on how to get involved, make donations, book a stall, etc

***FOUR WEEK PARENTING COURSE 10TH NOVEMBER - 1STDECEMBER***
Suzanne Lyndsay from the Tallaght Drugs Education Initiative will be facilitating a one-morning-a -week four week parenting course which looks at how we can build self esteem in our children and encourage them to make positive choices in life. For those of you who were at the AGM last year, Suzanne gave a wonderful talk on this topic and it is a great opportunity to hear more about and learn from her experience. The course will run on a Monday morning from 9.30a.m. - 11.00a.m. and - here is the best bit! - It is free, there is no charge!!! Please fill in the attached slip and return to the school by Friday October 24th if you would like to attend.
